Today was suppose to be free ladies snowboarding day at Hemlock which I had been looking forward too for a while now. Unfortunately we have had crazy winter conditions this week and while you might think that is a good thing for a snowboarder, sometimes it is not. I checked the weather report and it was currently -18 degrees plus windchill which in the elevation means if you don't have all your skins covered at all times you will very possibly get frostbite which would seriously suck. Plus even if you drove all the way there and covered up completely by the time you did a run and then took the chair back to the top you would be so cold you could barely move, nevermind go down the hill again. So much to my disappointment we had to reschedule our snowboarding day. I had the last couple of days off this week because of the crazy weather, and while I was enjoying the time off being stuck in my place was making me a little stir crazy. K texted at 10 to say that a bunch of us were going for lunch at Boston Pizza at noon and she would be picking me up shortly before that. She also said if I wanted to help she and a few others were going to help shovel some driveways for people who either had injuries or were elders and couldn't themselves. We picked up M on the way and met Ash there. We had a delicious lunch, I had my usual chicken fingers and fries, which yes they made fun of me for. What can I say I have the diserning food likes of a small child. Anyways after lunch we headed out to Garrison to shovel the driveway of a lady who had injured her back and could do it herself. We mostly did her walk way and then the area bedhind her house in front of her garage. It was small but a lot of work because under the snow was a fairly thick layer of ice, but we managed to get it all clean. Then we headed over to Fairfield to shovel the driveway of an elderly lady who had been stuck in her house since last Friday. Her driveway was a lot longer but there wasn't nearly as much ice. Just mostly at the end of the driveway where the snowplow tends to dump all the snow as it goes down the road. We were surprised at the amount of driveways that were clear on the road and yet none of her neighbours had come over to help her with her driveway. Strange how people can be sometimes. After we finished her driveway we were pretty wet and quite done. We drove over to Ash's place to dry off and have a hot chocolate. Around 4pm we headed home, we dropped off M and then K dropped me off. I decided to do another hour and a half of wii fit bring it to a total of two hours and then watch a movies and go to bed early. K asked if we would help do a couple more driveways tommorow because the Snow Angels group really needs the help right now with all this crazy weather. Since I said I would I will probably just go to bed early after my movie and get plently of sleep.
